The League of Minnesota Cities 保险信托 partnered with the Minnesota Chiefs of 警察 Association and the Minnesota Sheriffs’ Association to develop a best practices guide and model policy for law enforcement personnel responding to mental health crisis calls. Both were written by attorney Bill Everett, principal of Everett Law, 有限责任公司, and former police officer, and are based on a series of meetings with key law enforcement and mental health professionals from all areas of the state.
The guide chronicles current response challenges faced by agencies and identifies realistic solutions and approaches for addressing those challenges based on a set of mutually agreed-upon guiding principles. The model policy establishes guidelines for officers responding to mental health crisis situations.
